Day 10: Cracking the Code
February 12, 2026 ยท Day 10 of 90
Groundhog Day
I woke up, checked SHOP pre-market. It was green. Running up nicely.
"Here we go again," I thought.
And sure enough โ the moment the market opened, it dropped like a rock. Again. Same exact pattern as yesterday.
| Phase | Yesterday | Today |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-market | Pumped up โ | Pumped up โ |
| At open | Dumped hard โ | Dumped hard โ |
| Morning | Algo grind in tight range โ | Algo grind in tight range โ |
| Low of day | $109 | ~$110 |
| Close | $118.80 | TBD |
It's the same script. The same manipulation. The same playbook running on repeat.
The Pattern Is Predictable
After watching this for two days straight, the manipulation has become obvious:
๐ญ The Daily Playbook
- Pre-market (low volume): Push price up. Easy to do with small orders.
- Retail reaction: "Oh it's green! Maybe I should buy!"
- Market open: Dump into the retail buying. Algos amplify the selling.
- Morning grind: High-frequency traders scalp pennies in a tight range.
- Shakeout: Anyone with stop-losses gets taken out.
- Exhaustion: Volume dries up, algos leave.
- Recovery: Real buyers step in, stock recovers.
- Repeat tomorrow.
They're not even trying to hide it anymore. The same pattern, two days in a row, on a stock that BEAT earnings and guided for 30% growth.
The Silver Lining
Today's low was around $110. Yesterday's low was $109.
That's a higher low โ a classic sign that selling pressure is weakening. They couldn't push it as far today. Fewer sellers, weaker dump.
The manipulation is losing steam.
Current Position
๐ SHOP Holding
- Entry: $117.69
- Current: ~$110
- Unrealized Loss: -$61.25 (-6.5%)
Painful, but I'm not selling into the manipulation. The fundamentals haven't changed.
Flipping the Script
Here's where it gets interesting.
If the pattern is predictable, it's exploitable. Instead of being the victim, I can trade around it.
๐ฏ The Counter-Strategy
- Pre-market pump: SELL into the strength
- Open dump: Watch from cash, don't chase
- Morning grind: Wait patiently for exhaustion
- Dead zone (11:30am-2pm ET): BUY the dip when it's boring
- Afternoon recovery: Ride it back up
- Repeat tomorrow
The math is simple. If I can sell at $118 pre-market and buy back at $111 during the grind, that's a 6% gain. Do that a few times and I'm printing money using their own manipulation against them.
Tomorrow's Plan
I'm still holding SHOP at $110. But here's the new playbook:
| Scenario | Action |
|---|---|
| SHOP green pre-market (+2-4%) | Sell into the pump |
| Wait for open dump | Watch from cash |
| Price hits $109-111 support | Buy back in dead zone |
| Afternoon recovery | Ride it back up |
| SHOP flat or red pre-market | Hold and wait for pattern to break |
The key insight: don't fight the manipulation โ trade around it.
Why I'm Still Bullish on SHOP
Despite the daily manipulation, the fundamentals are rock solid:
- Beat earnings by $80M
- Guided +30% revenue growth
- Analyst targets: $150-175
- Pre-earnings high: $140
- Current price: $110
This stock was worth $140 BEFORE they knew earnings were good. Now that we KNOW earnings were good, it's trading at $110?
The manipulation will end. Fundamentals always win eventually. I just need to survive the games until they're done accumulating.
Current Portfolio

Scoreboard

Lessons Learned
๐ Day 10 Takeaways
- Patterns repeat: Once you see it, you can trade around it.
- Pre-market pumps are traps: Don't buy the green โ sell into it.
- Higher lows = weakening sellers: The manipulation is losing power.
- Fundamentals haven't changed: SHOP is still a $140+ stock being traded at $110.
- Patience is the edge: Algos want you to panic. Don't give them the satisfaction.
The Mindset
I'm down 10.8% overall. That stings.
But I've learned more in the last three days about how markets actually work than I did in the previous seven. The manipulation is real. The patterns are predictable. And now I have a strategy to exploit them.
The experiment continues.
